The Whakapara Girls

Can you donate to help these 10 rescued cows that urgently need help due to the drought . Currently it is costing an average of $175 per week on feed and it is hard to even source feed during the pandemic. Together we can help. We can purchase feed for them from here to lighten the load. We can also arrange for people to go and meet the girls and feed them. Perhaps public outreach? There are ten adult Hereford/freisian cows, seven years old this year, bred for meat market and due for processing five years ago. The pasture there is insufficient and requires supplementing every day with hay. They have developed a family community bond due to their years together. Any help would be enormously appreciated as this has been a solitary commitment over the last few years. Many thanks.

There is Bossy, and Baby Rose. Bossy is just that, everyone lets her have first grass, hay etc. She is the quiet leader who is strongly bossy, if /when they forget. Baby Rose was the runt of them all and for first few years was always on catch up, always under weight. She's assertive now and always first to look for me to get up and put out the hay. Calls me if up late. Bossy and others very tolerant of her. She has flowered like a little rose.

There is Spot She's called Spot because of spot patch on face next to left ear. Woody Tongue is called that because she needed treatment for woody tongue when she was young. Couldn't chew and swallow anything. Rather scary time with her.

Rocky is Rocky because of her horn stumps and she seems fighty, but she's not really, probably as result being dehorned as calf. Beauty is called that because she is the most gentle, patient and beautiful inside and out.

Bossy Sister is called that because she is bossy like her sister. Puppy Paw, because she has paw print marking on her left ear.

Rosie is most forthright and probably had lots hands on with people as calf. She is bit of mischief and ALWAYS stretches the boundaries, she's pretty confident in the world (around people). Lastly, Tossy, tosses her head and is bit stroppy. She is funny with it.

They all have special relationships with each other, some closer than others, overall reliant on each other, not happy when separated.
